Stretching from coast to inner country there are many areas where nature is still immaculate, with parks and reserves offering protected habitats – a treat for people that love bird watching, plants and walking paths.

You will also find endangered species in these protected areas. Some places will also be the scenario where you may see the migratory birds’ passage, flamingos, storks, herons and the unique sultana hens.

Around 40 km from Pinhal da Marina you will also find Lagoa dos Salgados, located where once a swamp could be seen and nowadays a very popular place to bird watching in the Algarve.

The lighthouse in Ponta do Altar, near Ferragudo, it’s a perfect place to watch dozens of birds going back to the cliffs at the end of the day.

If you love trekking, Algarve has some routes along its 250 extension that are a brilliant way to explore the inner Algarve, going from Rio Guadiana to Costa Vicentina. To plan your routes, contact our front desk and we will be happy to help.
